This is to the excitement of a father

This is to the protection in the eyes of a father

As he holds his son as he takes his first breath

This is to the sighs underneath his breath

As he thanks God that he has a son

This is to the first words a son utters

When his dad comes home at the end of the day

This is to the fathers who are there for their sons each day

This is to the gratitude that a son has for his father

This is to the way sons look up to their fathers

Their hero’s, their protector’s, their role models

These is for the first fights when words uttered

Cannot be withdrawn

This is to the fathers who teach their sons the ways of life

This is for the fathers whose wisdom and impact

On their sons is never revealed

But it transcends the largest moments in life

This is to the fathers who watch their sons become man

Who watch their sons achieve their goals in life

This is to a fathers pride as he watches his son grow up

This is to the fathers who don’t just hang back and take the back sit

A family man but most of all a role model

For perseverance, courage and strength to overcome
