The gift of your love

I remember a time when your smile was fading

A time when life was being drained from you

When you existed even though you were dying 

A time when you’re fighting spirit shone through

A time when your resilience was revealed

Through your sacrifice you showed us love

Showed us through your faith that life should be lived

That life was truly a gift from up above

A time when we only knew that you where there

Through thick and thin your presence would never disappear

Pain still flows through my veins

When the thought of you slowly vanishing flows though my brain

Every moment is a sign that you are a gift

And that every moment I can say I love you I should treasure

You taught me that in life for the ones you love you should fight

And your love for us I cannot truly measure

Day by day I am grateful for your presence

And your undying embrace

I pray that God may grant you life

For mine would cease to exist if your smile would be gone from it
