Why me?

At first I wondered
Completely digested
This indigestible feeling
Chewed it dry
Even though
It broke my spirit
It chipped away at me
and left me wondering
Why Me?

Why must I
be taught a lesson
Through tears and pain
Why must I
Endure this anguish
This pain
Which tries to diminish
This sense of self
Which I have cultivated
WHY ME
Why must I be plagued
With thoughts of inferiority
