should they burn 

before you will rise and listen 

should bullets rain down 

kissing innocent souls 

before you can open your eyes 

why do you choose to shut them 

refuse to listen to the screams 

of children being jailed 

for refusing to be still 

while your promises fail to be met 

should they burn 

should they shed blood 

paint the streets red 

before you will acknowledge their plight 

why have you kept mouths still 

while they fight for their futures

in search for the world 

their parents fought for

should they burn 

become martyrs 

for this struggle 

like those that came before
