They are encoded in our DNA strands

How do I begin measure the warmth of her love?

To replicate her touch, which heals broken hearts?

How do I understand the strength that drives her?

The strength which she bares to fight through her tribulations

The strength that races through her veins

That fuels her to perform amazing acts of kindness

The strength to open her heart and give her love to strangers in need

How do I begin to replicate what makes a woman?

Is it her smile that she bares for all to see?

Even in times heart and pain that smile is all you will see

How do I begin to understand the woman that gave birth to me?

That gave birth to a nation

The woman that gave birth to the world

It’s her courage, her resilience, her fighting spirit, her will

Which I cannot truly comprehend

So still I ask

How do I comprehend what it means to be woman?
